The Winter Hair Blues ❅
And just like that, we’re into the colder months. You know how warmth and humidity make your hair big, poofy and luscious? Well, the colder temperatures and lack of moisture in the air affect your hair in a totally opposite way - say hello to flat, dry and brittle hair. Not to mention, static! ⚡️
↬ Hair washing - Your skin will actually start increasing its natural oil production to compensate for the dry air, so you may find that your scalp will get oily quicker and your hair will feel drier towards the mids and ends. One game changer - the ᴅᴏᴜʙʟᴇ ᴡᴀꜱʜ. The first wash will remove dirt, excess oil and product build-up, and the second wash will really cleanse the scalp. Try to keep your regular wash schedule - upping the number of shampoos per week will dry everything out!
↬ Moisturizing - Hydrating hair products do not come with a ‘one size fits all’ label - different hair types have different needs. I would recommend a good in-shower hair mask once a week after a double wash to keep good moisture. Make sure to keep a hair mask off and away from the scalp, it doesn’t need it! Along with a mask once a week, integrate a daily hair oil to your mids + ends.
↬ Static factors - Are you lover of scarves? Fuzzy sweaters? Maybe even jackets with fur hoods? Surprise, these are the encouragers of static! Opt for an up style on the days that these are to be worn or make sure you are adding the lacking moisture into your hair before hand (daily hair oil). In addition, think about using a silk pillowcase to reduce the amount of friction on your hair as you sleep.
